This is What I Have Been Trying to Say.

Mastery means much more than accumulating facts. Above all, it means producing students who have a love of learning and can think, and reflect, and find answers on their own when they need to, so that their education serves some purpose after their formal schooling has ended.

Theodore Sizer had it nailed. Too much content. Not enough depth. Too many students. Thanks Graham……….

  1. One thing that really baffles me is that it seems pretty widely accepted that smaller class sizes leads to higher quality education, yet everything seems geared towards saddling us with larger classes while at the same time being told, "We expect success." That is like tying someone's shoes together and telling them to go win a marathon. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!
