A New Blog to Follow

I am just starting to digest some of the writing at TeachPaperless. Some interesting reading about technology and the high school classroom. I highly recommend the post The Top Eleven Things all Teachers Must Know About Technology. Is this over the top or does this blogger have it nailed as far as where we should be heading in the pursuit of a technology enriched education for all? Tell us what you think, PLEASE!

  1. I think that there is a lot of merit into catching education up with the rest of the world when it comes to "going paperless", but I don't think we can simply jump from where we are to where we want to be just because we finally realize it is a good idea. Ideally, we will see our high school exist without traditional textbooks, notebooks, and writing utensils. Students would instead be issued a laptop that contains a digital copy of every book in the building, including the library (Sorry, Sarah). The problem is that the reality of that scenario is so far from what our students are used to that I simply don't think it would work. I think the better plan of action would be set an ulitmate goal, and then come up with incrimental changes that can be made over the course of 3-5 years in order to smooth the transition with students, teachers, and the community. I'm on board for trying.
