Nets for teachers…..the prelude to a series

I am currently working on a technology grant for the district. One of the requirements for the grant is to plan for the integration of technology into the curriculum. While researching best practices for curriculum delivery via technology I have become reacquainted with the International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards or NETS. I blogged last week about the NETS for students. This week I am going to start a series of blogs discussing NETS for teachers. Although ISTE is currently revising the NETS for teachers, I think it is important for us to be aware of them and discuss their meaning for us and how we are approaching the use of technology in our building. I believe that teachers are the most important variable in the student engagement equation. We as educators must do all we can to use the tools at our disposal challenge and inspire our students!

  1. I think that the future of education lies in technology. I think that exposing our students to new and varied technologies will help them in the future, not only while they use the technology that we introduce them to, but also when the next technological breakthrough arrives, our students will embrace it and want to learn how to use it rather than be intimidated by something new and different. Our students will do well because they have been down this road before
