I have spent this past week as part of the stage crew helping prepare for this weekend’s performances of Suessical the Musical. What a fantastic experience it has been for me. I love getting to work alongside our fantastic students, the drama parents, and the adult sponsors of the Paris High School drama program. I can’t put into words the feeling I get as I listen to the orchestra (they have been working so hard and sound so good!), as well as watch and listen to over 100 young people act, dance and sing. The experience literally sends shivers through me! Including the art students who painted the flats and other props, the lighting crew, the sound crew, this production includes over a quarter of our student body! And talk about engaged learning and being moved out a comfort zone. Many of these students do things while in drama that have them learn about themselves, their capabilities and their hidden talents! Why do I need your help you might ask? They need to know that we as a staff acknowledge their hard work. It would be great to see many of you folks at any one of four performances this weekend. Trust me, the students notice when their teachers make the effort to come and support them while they put their talents on display for the community. It would mean the world to them if you could give up a couple of hours this weekend and let them know what you think!
